QWO is an injectable prescription medicine used to treat moderate to severe cellulite in the buttocks of adult women. Cellulite is caused by the fibrous bands under the skin, that overtime thicken, and pull the skin inward causing cellulites signature dimpling appearance. QWO, when injected, breaks down the fibrous bands eliminating their pull and smoothing skin's outward appearance.

About QWO

QWO is the first and only FDA-Approved injectable for the treatment of moderate to severe cellulite in the buttocks of adult women. Although, the buttocks is the only "on-label" indication for QWO, you may choose to discuss "off-label" treatment areas for QWO with your nurse injector. Enzymes, called collagenases, in QWO target and break down the structural fibrous bands that pull the skin inward causing outward cellulite dimpling. By releasing the fibrous bands, redistributing the fat cells, and stimulating the growth of new collagen, skin's outward appearance is smoother. Interested in learning more about QWO? Set up a complementary consultation with a nurse injector to determine if you are an appropriate candidate for QWO- they may help you identify and differentiate your concerns for lax skin vs. volume decrease/increase vs. true cellulite.

What to expect: You’ll meet with one of our licensed nurse injectors for a consultation to develop a treatment plan together, incorporating your identified concerns and your nurse injectors evaluation of your skin. Plan for your first visit to be longer than follow-up treatments for initial consultation, consent and treatment time. QWO injections are designed to be given as a series of 3 treatments, spaced 21 days apart. You and your nurse injector may decide upon additional treatments following series completion, or if additional cellulite treatment areas are identified.

Down time: Typically considered as having minimal downtime, many factors play a role in this. Minor bruising, swelling and pain are not uncommon. To aid in diminishing bruising and swelling we recommend taking the herbal supplement Arnica Montana 2 days prior to and up to a week after, avoid alcohol 3 days prior to treatment, avoiding exercise (specifically lower body) for 24-48 hours post treatment, wearing compression type leggings/spanx and icing the area frequently for 1-2 days post treatment. You may feel or notice lumps or nodules that may feel firm, this is normal and will dissipate. You may take Tylenol for pain if medically able. Do not massage or rub area of treatment. If determined medically appropriate by your primary or medical provider- it is also recommended to stop medications that increase change of bleeding (Asprin, Ibuprofen, Excedrin, Naproxen, vitamin E, fish oil, krill oil, ginseng, St. John’s wort, ginkgo biloba) for 2 weeks prior to treatment.

Results: Results are gradual. Following injection, one can expect an initial period of bruising and tenderness that will resolve over 1-2 weeks.  Clinical studies indicate that the period of bruising shortens after each series of the injections.

Additional F&Q’s: QWO is for the treatment of true cellulite. If at consultation it's determined concerns are related to lax skin, desire for volume loss or gain you may not be a candidate for QWO. Your nurse injector may suggest additional or other treatments such as Sculptra.

Our nurse injectors reserve the right to refuse treatment if we believe it to be unsafe or otherwise contraindicated for any reason.
